A Kenyan Airways plane, Boeing 737-800, with 115 people on board, crashed in southern Cameroon near the town of Niete on Saturday.
Nairobi, May 5 : A Kenyan Airways plane, Boeing 737-800, with 115 people on board, crashed in southern Cameroon near the town of Niete on Saturday.
It took off from Douala in Cameroon at five minutes past midnight, (local time) and was due to arrive in Nairobi in the morning.
The plane was carrying 106 passengers, eight crew members and a flight engineer.
The plane lost contact with the control tower in Douala soon after take off.
Addressing reporters, the Kenya Airways Managing Director said that the company has set up a crisis centre to monitor events and a passenger information centre at a local hotel.
The nationalities of the passengers have not been ascertained as yet, but it seems many were connecting through Nairobi to other destinations.
