A new poll conducted in London has found that Englishmen love to live in isolation and have absolutely no interest in socialising with their neighbours.
London, May 4 : A new poll conducted in London has found that Englishmen love to live in isolation and have absolutely no interest in socialising with their neighbours.
The poll, findings of which were based on interviews of 2238 people, found that as many as 80 percent of people in England have never socialised with those living next door, and more than a third do not even know their names.
The findings of the poll were published yesterday.
The survey, conducted by the "Foreign Currency Direct", found that residents are unwilling to befriend their neighbours and in the most extreme cases are ready to move to get away from them.
It also found that 36 per cent of Britons do not know their neighbours' names and almost a quarter (23 per cent) avoid those living next door. About 9 per cent have had a row with their neighbour, and the main reasons for quarrels were noise, parking and garden maintenance.
Commenting on the findings of the poll, Peter Ellis of Foreign Currency Direct, said: "Britons have lost their sense of community and many do not even know their neighbours."
