Teachers are the most likely of all working population to gossip, chit chat and backstab, according to a survey.
London, May 3 : Teachers are the most likely of all working population to gossip, chit chat and backstab, according to a survey.
Almost four out of five owned up to bitching about colleagues and fellow staff at least once a week.
More than half admitted that they withheld information to advance ahead, a poll of 2,000 business leaders and professionals found.
Bankers and stockbrokers got the second position for being the worst offenders, most blaming the anxiety for promotion.
Chefs and waiters bagged the third place with laziness and bad cooking as top reasons.
The survey also found that the boss is the main target of most gossips, followed by other colleagues' personal lives and poor work performance.
Ros Oxley, managing director at the 2007 Leaders In London careers forum, which did the survey, said people in jobs with harsh fight for promotion were most likely to bitch.
"In occupations where team-work is important, like the emergency services, they tend to full together," The Sun quoted Oxley, as saying.
