Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday said that the possibility of unification of the two factions of the Congress is diminishing.
Kathmandu, May 21 : Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday said that the possibility of unification of the two factions of the Congress is diminishing.
Deuba told this to reporters after a meeting with Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala.
Deuba complained that although the NC-D named five party representatives to initiate unification process with the NC eight months ago, the latter did not reciprocate in the similar manner.
"When they (NC) seem disinterested in sending in names, I think they will remain so even about the unification of the two factions", Deuba was quoted by Kantipur online as saying.
He went on to say that he did not seek a post in the Government for himself, but the unification should be such that his party members, as a whole are satisfied with the distribution of posts within the party.
Deuba, however, did not disclose details of the meeting.
Cabinet decisions and other political issues figured in the talks.
Deuba also expressed dissatisfaction over Koirala's separate meetings with the leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist).
"He (Koirala) has time to hold separate meetings with UML and Maoist leaders, but we have not had serious meeting on the Congress unification," Deuba said.
