A pregnant British-Asian teenager has been found knifed to death in her Manchester home in what witnesses are saying is a clear case of an honour killing.
London, May 14 : A pregnant British-Asian teenager has been found knifed to death in her Manchester home in what witnesses are saying is a clear case of an "honour killing".
According to The Sun, Sana Ali, 17, was found with stab wounds to her chest and stomach after a frenzied attack in her bedroom.
She also had slash wounds to her arms - suggesting she fought a desperate battle to protect herself and her baby, who was due in seven months.
Local police have refused to say whether they are treating the case as a possible "honour killing" - in which a woman deemed to have brought dishonour on her Asian family is murdered.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Dillon, leading the inquiry, said: "I haven't got any thoughts on that.
"We are interviewing the family to find out all the background. I am keeping an open mind on absolutely everything. That doesn't mean I think it is or that I think it is not," he added.
Her sister-in-law found Sana in her first-floor bedroom of her 400,000-pound home. She lived there with her husband, 24, his brother and other in-laws, who were on holiday.
Sana was still alive when paramedics reached her, but died of a suspected heart attack on her way to hospital.
Sana, who married just five months ago, was originally from Pakistan. She started a childcare course last year and intended to return to her studies after giving birth.
Sana's husband and brother-in-law have both been interviewed. But police said no one had been charged.
