The Lal Masjid administration here has issued preliminary `Sharia guidelines for all spheres of life, including legislation, human rights, education, health, employment, taxation and banking.

Islamabad, May 12 : The Lal Masjid administration here has issued preliminary `Sharia' guidelines for all spheres of life", including legislation, human rights, education, health, employment, taxation and banking.

It has distributed books containing 50 'guidelines' among the people who gathered at the mosque for Friday prayers, the Dawn reported.

Following are some of the 'guidelines':

. General amnesty for all exiled and victimised political leaders.

. Cut in taxes: The ulema demanded reforms in the taxation system under which all 'unjustified' taxes were withdrawn.

. Enforcement of the Sharia needed to protect all women from sexual harassment and to eliminate gender discrimination.

. Urdu to be declared the official language of Pakistan

. Abolish interest-based banking system, and replace it with an Islamic one.

. Provide shelter to every citizen of the country. Plots measuring 10 marlas to 1 kanal should be provided to the poor and low-paid workers and construction material be provided to them at subsidised rates.

. Introduce 'code of conduct' to deal with obscenity in the print and electronic media.

. Government officials should undergo special training so that they fully understand their 'Islamic duties'.
