Pak bomb squad opts for `Samosa Break, instead of a bomb search

Looking for bombs it appears is not a priority for the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) squad in Karachi.

Karachi, May 10 : Looking for bombs it appears is not a priority for the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) squad in Karachi.

Sent to investigate a bomb threat at the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) on Wednesday, the bomb squad preferred to feast on a plate of samosas instead of looking for the bomb, reports the Daily Times.

The squad reportedly ordered a plate of samosas at the SHCBA cafe and decided to have a "samosa break" instead of looking for the bomb.

When senior SHCBA members saw this and berated the 11-member team for their lethargic approach to a possible incident of mayhem, a war of words ensued between a Deputy Superintendent of Police and the SHCBA members.

One of the policemen reportedly also threatened the bar members.

"You are only 2,000 or so lawyers. We'll deal with you," he was quoted as saying by a bar member.

One of the lawyers said that the bomb squad appeared suspiciously calm and relaxed, and added that the ill-equipped BDS team, carrying only handheld metal detectors, searched all three floors of the main building and then had a look at the motorcycles in the parking lot.
