Pak won't review border-fencing decision: FO

Pakistan Foreign Office has said that the country had no intention of reviewing its decision to fence parts of its border with Afghanistan to curb illegal movements.

Islamabad, May 1 : Pakistan Foreign Office has said that the country had no intention of reviewing its decision to fence parts of its border with Afghanistan to curb illegal movements.

FO spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said that the border fencing would minimise illegal movement at the Border.

Asked if Pakistan would review the fencing, she said, "Not at all. We are doing it (fencing) inside our territory, on our side of the border."

She hoped that the meeting between President Gen Pervez Musharraf and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai in Ankara would reduce misunderstandings between the two countries. The two leaders would work out ways during the meeting to improve border security through coordination in counter-terrorism and strengthening bilateral relations, the Daily Times quoted her as saying.

She added that Indo-Pak talks on the Sir Creek issue would start in Rawalpindi on May 17-18 and on the Wullar barrage issue in New Delhi on June 26-27.
