Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) President Upendra Yadav is holding meetings with Indian leaders in New Delhi to garner support for his community's demands.
Kathmandu, May 1 : Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) President Upendra Yadav is holding meetings with Indian leaders in New Delhi to garner support for his community's demands.
Terai's ethnic Madhesis have been demanding that the Nepal Government revoke the recommendations made by Electoral Constituency Delineation Commission (ECDC) and form a high level commission to investigate atrocities against them during their January-February agitation, among others.
Yadav held discussions with Nationalist Congress General Secretary DP Tripathy and CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury, a local daily reported.
Yadav said that the purpose of his visit is to garner moral support from Indian leaders, people, parties and media for the Madhesi agitation.
Yadav, who is accompanied by NC-Democratic leader Pradeep Giri, was highly critical of the Maoists.
He is heading a MJF team to hold talks with the Nepal Government on the Terai issue.
Yadav said Madhesis have three preconditions before holding talks with the government - formation of high level judicial commission to probe atrocities during Madhesi agitation, stopping government-supported attack against MJF cadres and resignation of Nepal Home Minister Krsihna Prasad Sitaula.
He accused the government of not considering their demands seriously.
"If talks are not held, we will stage agitation again," he said.
Yadav also ruled out involvement of Hindu extremists or royalists in the agitation.
