Kathmandu, July 8 : Nepali Congress today expressed deep sorrow at the demise of former Indian Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar.
In the condolence message, the party said with the demise of Chandra Shekhar, South Asia has lost a farsighted leader.
The party recalled Chandra Shekhar's role in the establishment of democracy in Nepal.
The central committee meeting of the Nepali Congress was abruptly withheld today after the news of Chandra Shekhar's demise reached.
Chandra Shekhar today died of cancer in New Delhi's Apollo Hospital. He was suffering from multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cell and was admitted, in May after his health condition deteriorated. He was 80.
