Lahore, July 7 : The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) once it returns to power, would ban all madrassas involved in spreading sectarianism and extremism, said Qasim Zia, Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly.
The PPP would take stern action against all madarssas imparting military training to students, Zia said.
He demanded severe punishment for the Lal Masjid clerics for abducting citizens, law enforcement personnel and challenging the writ of the government.
Qasim said the government had failed to act in a timely manner against the Lal Masjid, which led to blood being shed in the Pakistan capital.
