Karachi, July 22 : North Western Frontier Province's (NWFP) Chief Minister Akram Durrani enjoys constitutional powers to halt the re-election of President Pervez Musharraf, said Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
"According to the Article 112 of the Constitution of Pakistan, the Governor shall dissolve the Provincial Assembly if so advised by the Chief Minister," Taj Haider, former Senator of the PPP, said.
According to Article 41 of the Constitution, the Electoral College for the presidential election consists of members from both the National Assembly and Senate along with members of the provincial assemblies, The Nation reported.
"Should the Chief Minister of the NWFP, who belongs to the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), advise the Governor of NWFP to dissolve the Assembly, the Electoral College will become incomplete, and the re-election of Musharraf as President from the present assemblies will be blocked," Haider said.
