The chairperson of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Asma Jahangir, has said that its high time that the Musharraf regime accept its inability to lead the nation, and transfer power to the countrys political parties.
Lahore, July 20 : The chairperson of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Asma Jahangir, has said that its high time that the Musharraf regime accept its inability to lead the nation, and transfer power to the country's political parties.
"Those in power accept their inability to lead the nation at this very crucial moment and pave the way for political parties to play a role at this critical time," Jahangir said in a statement.
"The present crisis may only be resolved through collective decision-making and a strong resolve by the leading political forces of the country," the Daily Times quoted her as saying.
Commenting on the recent suicide bombings in the country, Jehangir said, "Armed militants, including suicide bombers, are targeting the law and security forces on a daily basis. They in turn are being motivated to use brute force against those who challenge the government, regardless of the loss of innocent lives in this process."
"The version of the government that the bombing at the Islamabad Bar Association convention was conducted by a suicide bomber is widely challenged by eyewitnesses, " she added.
