Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been branded a threat to democracy in the UK.
London, July 2 : Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been branded a threat to democracy in the UK.
Trials of e-voting machines and optical scanners used to count paper ballots were held during local elections last month in England and Scotland.
According to New Scientist, observers spotted a host of problems with the EVMs, including insecure software, error messages and poorly designed encoded receipts.
Malfunctions and software errors delayed counts using optical scanners and, in some cases, electronic counts differed widely from manual ones.
In a report, the London-based Open Rights Group has now said it cannot express confidence in the results of ballots, which uses such systems.
Accusations against EVMs have previously been raised in the US that it allows one voter to cast several votes.
