West foreign policy not to be blamed for 9/11 or 7/7: ex-Qaeda recruiter

A former recruiter for the Al-Qaeda, Hassan Butt, has said that it was laughable to think that foreign policies followed by the West were responsible for both the 9/11 and 7/7 terror strikes.

London, July 2 : A former recruiter for the Al-Qaeda, Hassan Butt, has said that it was laughable to think that foreign policies followed by the West were responsible for both the 9/11 and 7/7 terror strikes.

"What drove me and many of my peers ... was a sense that we were fighting for the creation of a revolutionary state that would eventually bring Islamic justice to the world. We used to laugh whenever people on TV proclaimed the sole cause for Islamic acts like 9/11 and 7/7 was Western foreign policy," The Mirror quoted Butt, as saying.

Butt, from Manchester, added that the bids at mass destruction in London and Glasgow are "so reminiscent of other extremist plots that they are likely to have been carried out by my former peers".
