Syrian Ambassador Dr Riad Ismat loves Islamabad for its greenery and tranquility, and believes its ideal for meditation.
Islamabad, July 2 : Syrian Ambassador Dr Riad Ismat loves Islamabad for its greenery and tranquility, and believes its ideal for meditation.
"I like its lifestyle for that, because it saved my leisure time after work for creative writing more than many other cities I lived in. But there are no film theatres and some very rare dramatic, dance and musical events from abroad. I am looking forward to the inauguration of the new National Arts Gallery, with its adjunct stages, which could enliven the concept of Enlightened Moderation practically," the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.
Dr Ismat came as the first Syrian ambassador to Pakistan in 2005, 16 years after his predecessor's departure.
He said relations between Syria and Pakistan were good spiritually, but both the countries needed to materialise more in developing trade, cooperation in education as well as in other fields.
The trade between the two countries is around 40 million dollars annually which should be improved. He called for an early signing of the preferential trade agreement and some protocols in culture, education and tourism.
