London, July 18 : Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev has ben giving yoga lessons to lawmakers in London in a bid to make them more energetic and creative.
"Parliamentarians represent and work for the benefit of millions of British citizens. I have come here to help them to improve their physical and mental health, productivity of life, and quality of life, so that they remain more creative and work with more energy, remain stress free and work towards making their nation more prosperous," Ramdev said.
Ramdev, is in London at the invitation of the House of Commons.
"I also want them to promote yoga in their National Health Service, as it will reduce their budget, and the money saved, can be utilized for the country's development," he said.
Yoga prescribes physical and mental discipline for attaining oneness with the supreme being.
It has been practiced in India for thousands of years, but the Indian Government is concerned about people trying to earn money from their cultural heritage.
Ramdev has popularised the use of yoga across the world with claims of it curing illnesses ranging from cancer to AIDS through breathing exercises and intake of traditional medicines.
The India Government has set up a task force to create a database of yoga techniques to prevent others from patenting the centuries-old knowledge.
