Final Potter book sets record on Amazon with 2m pre-orders

Online retailer Amazon shows just how much fans want to get their hands on the seventh and last Harry Potter book by revealing that a staggering 2 million people worldwide have already pre-ordered it.

London, July 16 : Online retailer Amazon shows just how much fans want to get their hands on the seventh and last Harry Potter book by revealing that a staggering 2 million people worldwide have already pre-ordered it.

The number smashes the record set by the previous book 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' which clocked in 1.5 million orders.

And, that's not all. Amazon is expecting a surge in the number of orders as the release date of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' approaches.

The book will be released worldwide on Saturday, July 21.

Britain's Royal Mail is expecting to deliver 600,000 books in the country, which would effectively mean that one in every 43 homes will see a book on their doorstep.

"We've planned it with military precision," The Sun quoted a spokesman, as saying.

In the meantime, the latest Potter flick 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' has topped the weekend US box office with an estimated earning of 77.4 million dollars.
