Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has urged the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to fulfil its promises made before taking charge of the utility.

Karachi, July 1 : Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has urged the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to fulfil its promises made before taking charge of the utility.

Aziz has directed Federal Minister Liaquat Jatoi to approach the owners of the KESC, The News quoted a source, as saying.

Aziz chaired a high-level meeting at the Governor House to take stock of the situation arose from the recent rainstorms.

Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad, Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Federal Ministers Babar Ghauri, Liaquat Jatoi, National Disaster Management Authority chief Lt-Gen Farooq Khan, and senior officials apprised the Prime Minister about the scenario.

The KESC's performance was also discussed during the meeting, Aziz told reporters.

He further said that there since its privatisation, the KESC hasn't seen any investment.

Aziz said the Pakistan Army had started rescue and relief operation in the areas affected by rain and cyclone, adding that the C-130 planes and Pakistan Navy's boats would ensure supply of food and medicines.

Commenting on the general elections, the Prime Minister said that it would be held on time.
