I ignored US warnings to make Pak a nuclear state, says Sharif

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the Bill Clinton Administration had asked him five times not to conduct a nuclear test, but he ignored the warning.

Lahore, Dec 6 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the Bill Clinton Administration had asked him five times not to conduct a nuclear test, but he ignored the warning.

Addressing a gathering in Muzaffarabad, he said that former Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee visited Pakistan to resolve issues pertaining to Kashmir.

Sharif further said that had there been no coup in 1999, the Kashmir issue could have been resolved.

He claimed that in 1999, the Prime Minister's House was seized within ten minutes.

In spite of ruling for nine years, President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf has "declared Pakistan a failed state", which means that he himself has admitted negligence and complete failure, said Sharif.

He maintained that gunship helicopters are targeting Pakistanis at the behest of the US.
