Customers at strip club in Texas will have to carry extra 5 dollars when they go to the place next time, for a new law intended to tax strip clubs has been introduced.
Melbourne, Dec 31 : Customers at strip club in Texas will have to carry extra 5 dollars when they go to the place next time, for a new law intended to tax strip clubs has been introduced.
The surcharge, which is supported by women's rights campaigners, is intended to aid sex-crime prevention programs and rape crisis centres, reports theage.com.au.
The new law comes into effect from Jan 1 and is expected to raise an estimated 40 million dollars each year from those paying for lap-dancers and pole dancers.
However, the surcharge has sparked opposition from patrons, club owners and dancers, who claim the tax will drive away customers.
Acording to them, it violates constitutional rights to freedom of expression.
