Nepal Maoist-nominated ministers to be sworn-in on Monday

Almost three months after parting its way from the Nepal Government, Maoists are all set to re-join the government.

Kathmandu, Dec 30 : Almost three months after parting its way from the Nepal Government, Maoists are all set to re-join the government.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala will administer the oath of office to Maoist-nominated ministers on Monday, reported Nepalnews.

Minister for Education and Sports Pradeep Nepal told this to reporters after a Cabinet meeting today.

The Cabinet meeting also endorsed the names of seven Maoist leaders recommended to the post of five ministers and two state ministers.

The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) has submitted the names of its ministerial candidates to Koirala on Saturday.

Maoist ministers had resigned from the interim government on September 18 in protest against Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala-led Government's lukewarm response to their demands for declaring the Himalayan nation as a "republic" and a fully proportional electoral system for the Constituent Assembly election.

On December 24, the Nepal Cabinet had adopted the agreement signed by the top leaders of the six ruling parties and the Maoists to declare the country federal democratic republic subject to implementation by the first meeting of the elected Constituent Assembly.
