Lahore, Dec 3 : The Pakistan Government has extended the house arrest of Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan by 30 days, saying he could be a threat to public safety, if released.
Ahsan's house arrest, which was to end on December 2, was extended by the order of Punjab Home Department Secretary Khusro Pervaiz Khan, the Daily Times reported.
In a notification, Khan said Ahsan could be a threat to public safety and might "impede the judicial process, causing unrest among the litigant public" through his stance on certain issues, if he was released.
Ahsan will remain under detention for another 30 days at his house, which is under the custody of the Camp Jail superintendent.
