Dianas bodyguard set to break silence at inquest

Trevor Rees, the only person who survived the crash that killed Princess Diana, her companion Dodi Al Fayed and driver Henri Paul, is set to break his silence when he gives evidence at her inquest next month.

London, Dec 3 : Trevor Rees, the only person who survived the crash that killed Princess Diana, her companion Dodi Al Fayed and driver Henri Paul, is set to break his silence when he gives evidence at her inquest next month.

The 38-year old was Diana's bodyguard at the time of the crash, and is now sole witness of the late Princess' last moments.

He is expected to tell the inquest into her death how two cars and a motorbike chased the Mercedes carrying Diana and Dodi into the Pont d'Alma tunnel in Paris where it crashed.

Rees is expected to tell the jury how Diana regained consciousness after the crash and called out Dodi's name. However, he is also likely to dismiss rumours that the crash had been part of an "assassination plot" that has been purported by Dodi's father, Harrod's owner Mohamed Al Fayed, reports the Mirror.

As a result of the accident, former para Rees suffered severe face, chest and brain injuries that left him with few memories of the journey.

He has however, pieced together a picture of events that took place on August 31, 1997.

Mr Al Fayed does not believe the bodyguard does not remember what happened that night.
