Former Nepal Congress leader and influential Madhesi politician, Mahantha Thakur, has been nominated to head the newly formed Madhesi regional party, the Terai-Madhes Loktantrik Party.

Kathmandu, Dec 28 : Former Nepal Congress leader and influential Madhesi politician, Mahantha Thakur, has been nominated to head the newly formed Madhesi regional party, the Terai-Madhes Loktantrik Party.

The party has said that it will campaign for a broader political power in Nepal's Terai region.

Four lawmakers, including Thakur, and a few other Madhesi leaders quit their respective parties on December 10 to form the new party.

Madhes party leaders are due to address a press conference here to publicise the party's policy and their future plans.
