Fazl says Benazir is backing Musharrafs policies

Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto is supporting the anti-Islam policies of President Pervez Musharraf.

Tank, Dec 26 : Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto is supporting the anti-Islam policies of President Pervez Musharraf.

Addressing a public meeting here during the election campaign of JUI-F candidate Maulana Attaur Rehman, he said Musharraf has not dared to hand over nuclear scientist Dr AQ Khan to the US, but Benazir publicly said that she would provide the US access to Dr. Khan.

"Musharraf-led government had tried to delete the subject of Islamiat from schools' syllabus, but the MMA government had opposed such offers", he said.

He further added that MMA would continue its struggle for the restoration of judiciary, and called for freedom of media and warned that if the government rigged the polls, his party would start agitation.
