Musharraf expresses concerns over spate of suicide attacks

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today expressed grave concern over the spate of suicide attacks in the country, and assured that the government is making all efforts to root it out.

Karachi, Dec 25 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today expressed grave concern over the spate of suicide attacks in the country, and assured that the government is making all efforts to root it out.

Addressing at Mazar-e-Quaid in connection of the birth anniversary of Pakistan's Father of the Nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he said that the country is not facing any external threat, but internal threats of terrorism, extremism and suicide attacks.

Meanwhile, caretaker Federal Interior Minister, Hamid Nawaz Khan said in Islamabad that the army would remain stationed at the sensitive places for making the law and order situations better during the January 8 polls.

He discounted apprehensions that army's deployment during the poll process would in any way influence the electoral process.

The News quoted the minister speaking to Geo News, where he said that the overall situation in the country has come to normalcy and peaceful elections could be held across the country.

The minister said that there had been some problems in the Frontier and Swat regions, but it has been solved to a great extent.
