Pakistans Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan has asked his advocates to appear before the returning officer to withdraw his nomination papers.
Lahore, Dec 13 : Pakistan's Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan has asked his advocates to appear before the returning officer to withdraw his nomination papers.
According to a press release, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leadership has been informed about the decision.
Advocates Shaukat Ali Javed and Mian Tariq Hassan will withdraw Aitzaz's nomination papers, the press release says.
Aitzaz stated that although he was sure of winning the poll from his constituency, he was exercising the boycott option to express solidarity with the lawyers.
He also said that even the parties that were running in the polls were already calling them 'sham' and 'rigged'.
Even the patrons of the regime had said that the elections were not going to be perfect, which means that it is recognised, in advance, that these would be rigged, the Daily Times quoted Aitzaz, as saying.
