Pakistan and China have signed a extradition treaty to make cooperation more effective on preventing and suppressing crimes, keeping in view the acts of international terrorism and organised crimes.
Islamabad, Dec 12 : Pakistan and China have signed a extradition treaty to make cooperation more effective on preventing and suppressing crimes, keeping in view the acts of international terrorism and organised crimes.
Interior Secretary Syed Kamal Shah signed the treaty on behalf of Pakistan and Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui represented his country.
Visiting Deputy Foreign Minister of China Wong Yi and Interior Minister Lt General (retired) Hamid Nawaz Khan were also present on the occasion.
After the ceremony, Hamid Nawaz said the treaty would help both the countries extraditing criminals and terrorists.
The Daily Times quoted Hamid as saying that the treaty would come into force from January 10, 2008.
When asked about the most wanted terrorists demanded by China, he said the intelligence agencies would prepare the list of the terrorists after the enforcement of the treaty.
