Falling in love is what makes Brits happiest

When it comes to making the Brits happy, nothing works better than falling head over heels in love.

London, Dec 12 : When it comes to making the Brits happy, nothing works better than falling head over heels in love.

And, the finding comes from figures based on one of the biggest studies of its kind - involving 5,000 people - to find out what makes people happy.

The survey was carried out by researchers at Sheffield University.

As it turns out, not even an expensive holiday or being promoted is better than falling in love, says survey chief Dr Dimitris Ballas.

"Personal relationships were extremely important in terms of happiness, surpassing the importance of relationships at work. Events like going on holiday or buying a pet do not seem to have any significant impact on happiness," The Sun quoted him, as saying.After love, it was great job and a decent set of colleagues that have people feeling content.

"The strength of the importance of employment is unexpected, but is consistent with new theories on the importance of self-esteem in societies," Dr Ballas said.

Another great source of joy, revealed the survey, was having a solid circle of friends.

The findings are set to be published in the International Journal of Epidemiology.
