US outraged over Pak politicians jihad against India, US remarks

The US Embassy here has reacted strongly to the remarks made by Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Major (retired) Tanveer Hussain Syed in which he urged the Pakistan government to announce jihad against India and the US.

Islamabad, Aug 9 : The US Embassy here has reacted strongly to the remarks made by Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Major (retired) Tanveer Hussain Syed in which he urged the Pakistan government to announce jihad against India and the US.

US Embassy spokeswoman Elizabeth Colton said in a statement on Wednesday that Syed's remarks were "outrageous" and "reprehensible".

"These statements are outrageous and highly reprehensible. The parliamentarian has levelled allegations that are completely unfounded and irresponsible," Colton said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Foreign Office has distanced itself from Syed's statement.

Foreign Office spokeswomen Tasnim Aslam said that Syed's remarks did not represent government policy.

Syed stressed the need for announcing a 'jihad' against India and the US during a debate on Pakistan's foreign policy with a special focus on Pak-US relations.

He claimed that through jihad, Pakistan could acquire Kashmir in six months.

Syed called for sending "jihadis" to Kashmir, because Pakistan would never be able to get Kashmir through negotiations.

He said that India and US wanted to take control of Kashmir to keep a check on China.

He also claimed that American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is killing Chinese nationals in Pakistan to harm cordial relations between Islamabad and Beijing.

Syed accused Washington of conspiring against the Muslim world, especially Pakistan, and said that the US is supporting anti-Muslim forces to hurt Muslim interests in Kashmir, Palestine, Kosovo, Iraq and Iran.
