Getting Catrina Nolan to walk down the aisle was an extremely tough task, for though she wasnt a reluctant bride, it was her 19-stone or 120kg dress that caused all the huffing and puffing.
London, Aug 9 : Getting Catrina Nolan to walk down the aisle was an extremely tough task, for though she wasn't a reluctant bride, it was her 19-stone or 120kg dress that caused all the huffing and puffing.
It took four people an hour just to roll the 18-year old in and out of the car, before the exhausting walk up the aisle to where her adoring groom was waiting.
As for why she chose the weighty dress, well that's because Catrina wanted something 'different'.
"It wasn't dignified but I just wanted my dress to be different. I wanted something that would stand out," the Mirror quoted her, as saying.
The gown, which cost 6,000 pounds, was 40ft wide and made up of a dozen different materials including satin, feathers and lace, and an astonishing 20 layers of underskirts.
"The bodice was made up of Swarovski crystals. One side is half a star and the other is half a love-heart. It had all frills and ruffles on the skirt, it was really fantastic," Catrina said.
"When I got to the church it took 10 minutes to get to the door when it would normally take two seconds.
"My brother Philip gave me away and he had to glide me down the aisle because I couldn't walk properly myself. It was really, really heavy. When I got to the reception I had to take off half the underskirts because it was getting too much," she said.
However, an impression it did make, especially on her groom, John, 20.
"Catrina looked amazing, I'll never forget seeing her walk down the aisle," he said.
