Former cricketer and Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Husain would be arrested in UK in September.
Lahore, Aug 8 : Former cricketer and Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Husain would be arrested in UK in September.
Khan said the "good news" that the MQM leader was behind the bars could come from the UK by the end of September.
He said he had got a case registered against Husain under the British justice system and the Scotland Yard was probing the charges against him.
He said he would approach UK courts against Husain in case he was not arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by him.
Meanwhile, British Deputy High Commissioner in Pakistan, Hamish Daniel, said that UK police is investigating the charges against MQM chief Altaf Hussain on the plea of PTI chief Khan.
If the charges proved true, then action would be taken against Hussain in accordance with the law, he added.
He also said that Hussain did not enjoy immunity in UK and, if necessary, would be prosecuted.
Earlier, new British Foreign Secretary David Miliband on his first visit to Pakistan had said that the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader Hussain does not enjoy immunity against prosecution.
"There is an independent prosecution system in place in the United Kingdom which works without fear and favour," he said.
Miliband said that if there is strong evidence against Hussain being responsible for the poor law and order situation in Karachi, the matter would be investigated and dealt in accordance with the law.
Imran had blamed Hussain for indulging in terrorist activities, which had culminated in the May 12 killings in Karachi, incitement to violence, money laundering and torture.
