Karachi, Aug 7 : Expressing disappointment over US Congress legislation putting conditions on aid to Pakistan, President Pervez Musharraf today said that it could affect the bilateral relations.
At a meeting with US Senator Richard Durban, Musharraf exchanged views with the American senator over US-Pak relations and the efforts against terrorism, The News reported.
Musharraf reiterated his determination that Pakistan would carry on its role against extremism and terrorism, as it is in the national interest, and Islamabad would not allow use of its territory for any terrorist act.
With reports making the rounds that Washington might take action against extremists in Pakistan's tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, Musharraf stressed that Pakistani forces are fully capable to face terrorists and only the national forces would act against terrorists in the country.
Durban was quoted as saying that the Congress would continue its support to Pakistan for its campaign against terrorism and achievement of its national targets.
