Musharraf would emerge as public leader even without uniform: Nilofar

Expressing her confidence in President Pervez Musharraf, former Pakistani Women Development Minister Nilofar Bakhtiyar has said that he would emerge as a public leader even without his uniform.

Islamabad, Aug 6 : Expressing her confidence in President Pervez Musharraf, former Pakistani Women Development Minister Nilofar Bakhtiyar has said that he would emerge as a public leader even without his uniform.

"I have seen Musharraf from very close and he has the guts to emerge as public leader and survive without the uniform," Bakhtiyar said.

She further said that Musharraf must shed off his uniform and suggested the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) to forward him this proposal before somebody moved the Supreme Court on the issue, The News reported.

Commenting on Benazir Bhutto-Musharraf July 27 meeting in Abu Dhabi, Nilofar said that it would strengthen anti-terrorism efforts of the government.

Musharraf should also join hands with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in order to wage a joint war against elements that are damaging Pakistan, she added.

Terming Musharraf and Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad as her benefactors, Nilofar said that she owed a lot to them as they gave her a big push in politics.

Nilofar, who was earlier a Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) student leader, said she would never go back to the PPP.

Talking about her future plan, she said she had no plan to contest the general elections. She said one should not forget one's benefactors.
