Islamabad, Aug 4 : The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is favourite party among the masses and if elections are held in free and fair atmosphere, it would sweep the polls, claimed the party's central information secretary, Sherry Rehman.
Commenting on a survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI), Rehman said, "The survey should serve as an eye-opener for those who advocate the idea of a non-representative government for Pakistan."
PPP chairwoman Benazir Bhutto has emerged as the most popular leader of the country, the Daily Times quoted Rehman, as saying.
She further said that economy, unemployment, poverty, education, water, electricity, health and roads are the core issues for electorate of the country.
"An overwhelming majority of 58 percent in Sindh, 33 percent in Balochistan, 23 percent in Punjab and 25 percent in NWFP agree that the ruling coalition do not deserve re-election and want to see PPP lead the nation," she said.
The survey further indicates that the ruling regime had failed to address people's concerns.
"Inflation, especially food inflation, remains in double digits while lack of employment opportunities stemming from political instability has been pushing the youth to the wall leading them to be manipulated by extremist forces," Rehman said.
