Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief and former cricketer Imran Khan has said that it is treason on the part of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) that it is holding negotiations with President Pervez Musharraf.
Islamabad, Aug 29 : Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief and former cricketer Imran Khan has said that it is treason on the part of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) that it is holding negotiations with President Pervez Musharraf.
"It is treason on the part of the political party which has always fought against military dictators," he said.
Khan said that the PPP's move was against all democratic norms, and added that by entering into negotiations with a military dictator, the PPP was strengthening dictatorship in Pakistan.
He said that the All Party Democratic Movement and PTI would work together to make the negotiations between the PPP and Musharraf unsuccessful.
Khan termed the negotiations a move to jeopardise democracy in Pakistan, and said it was being done at the time when Musharraf had become so vulnerable.
Criticising Pakistan's role in the war on terror, Khan said that the country's forces were being used by outsiders for killing their own people, the Dawn reported.
Khan criticised the MQM for May 12 mayhem in Karachi, and said that his case against MQM leader Altaf Hussain was progressing well.
