Mohammed Al Fayed will lead a two-minute silence at department store Harrods on Friday to mark the tenth death anniversary of his son Dodi and Diana, Princess of Wales.
London, Aug 29 : Mohammed Al Fayed will lead a two-minute silence at department store Harrods on Friday to mark the tenth death anniversary of his son Dodi and Diana, Princess of Wales.
The tribute, by Al Fayed, his wife and Dodi's brothers and sisters will take place an hour before the official thanksgiving service at the Guards Chapel.
As he does every year, Al Fayed will pay his respects to Dodi at the mausoleum on the family estate in Oxted, Surrey.
However, since this year happens to be the couple's tenth death anniversary, the family will stand at door three of the Knightsbridge premises and invite customers to join him in a hushed tribute.
"Given that it's a ten-year anniversary and there is a lot of focus on it, it's best that we allow people to see him in a dignified and restrained and suitable manner," Timesonline quoted Katharine Witty, the Harrods chairman's director of press and public affairs, as saying.
"Usually it's very low key because it's a private day really for Mohamed and his family. This is just for the family. The whole store will be asked to observe it," she added.
Al Fayed's daughter Camilla will then be attending the memorial service for Princess Diana for which she was invited by Prince William and Prince Harry.
About 450 people will attend the service, including all senior members of the Royal Family, with the exception of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and Prince Charles' wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
The Duchess, who was first going to attend the service after an invitation by her husband and stepsons, decided to pull out following public uproar.
The service takes place this Friday.
