US troops cant operate in Pakistan, says Aslam

Pakistans Foreign Office has termed a report that Islamabad had reached an understanding with Washington about incursions inside Pakistan as speculative and fabricated.

Islamabad, Aug 28 : Pakistan's Foreign Office has termed a report that Islamabad had reached an understanding with Washington about incursions inside Pakistan as "speculative and fabricated."

Foreign Office Spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam categorically ruled out that any such understanding with the US existed.

"The parameters of Pakistan's cooperation with the US and NATO are clear to everyone, including the NATO forces across the border and the US administration, and they are limited to intelligence sharing and coordination," Aslam said.

She went on to say that any operation to be conducted inside Pakistan based on actionable intelligence was Islamabad's responsibility.

Similarly, operations on the other side of the border were the responsibility of NATO and the Afghan forces, the Daily Times quoted Aslam, as saying.

Responding to a query on reported talks between Taliban and the US in Afghanistan, she said Pakistan was neither involved nor aware of such meetings.
