Evidence that Di was pregnant re-ignites conspiracy theory

A hospital document has leant more support to the conspiracy theory surrounding Princess Dianas death by showing that she was indeed pregnant when she died.

London, Aug 27 : A hospital document has leant more support to the conspiracy theory surrounding Princess Diana's death by showing that she was indeed pregnant when she died.

The document, which was recently made public, was written by Professor Pierre Coriat, the French surgeon who carried out the post-mortem on Diana hours after she was died in car crash in Paris.

The document also forms the centre of a new book 'Diana, The Inquiry They Never Published' by top French investigative journalist Chris Lafaille, who said that he had found the it after scouring archives of the Pitie-Saltpetriere Hospital where Diana breathed her last on August 31, 1997.

The crash also killed her companion Dodi Al Fayed, and driver Henri Paul.

Lafaille claims that the document, which states that Diana was nine to 10 weeks pregnant, was sent to three senior French figures - then minister of the interior Jean-Pierre Chevenement, health minister Bernard Kouchner, foreign affairs minister Hubert Vedrine and Paris police chief Martine Monteil.

"It is a near certainty that Diana was nine to 10 weeks pregnant at the time she died, according to papers from the Paris Public Hospitals archives. The letter dated August 31, 1997, was written by Professor Pierre Coriat who carried out the post-mortem examination on the Princess," the Daily Express quoted Lafaille, as saying.

"This document has never been claimed or proved to be a fake." But he added that when he confronted the Paris hospitals chiefs, they simply denied the letter had ever existed," he added.

The revelations are sure to strengthen Dodi's father Mohammed Al Fayed's claims that his son and Diana's death was no accident but plot hatched by the British establishment.

It may also explain why Diana was embalmed so quickly after the crash, thus making it impossible to carry out further tests for pregnancy.

A spokeswoman for Harrods boss Mohamed Al Fayed said: "If there is new evidence it should be brought before the coroner so he can properly conduct the inquest."
