Life in several districts of Balochistan remained paralysed today due to a strike called here on the eve of the first death anniversary of the Baloch nationalist leader, Nawab Akbar Bugti.
Karachi, Aug 26 : Life in several districts of Balochistan remained paralysed today due to a strike called here on the eve of the first death anniversary of the Baloch nationalist leader, Nawab Akbar Bugti.
At least 50 persons were taken into custody in different areas of the province on the charges of violence and blocking of roads, The News reported.
Jamhoori Watan Party, Balochistan National Party and Baloch Students Organization (BSO) had given a call for the observance of strike marking the first death anniversary of Bugti.
Nationalist parties and BSO organized public meetings, protest rallies and seminars in the different districts of the province.
Quetta, Chaghi, Naushki, Mastung, Qalat, gawadar, Punjgor, Awaran, Turbat and Khuzdar districts observed shutter down and wheel jam strike, while traffics on Quetta-Karachi and Quetta-Pasni national highways remained standstill.
