Sharif brothers will go straight to jail on their return: Musharraf

President Pervez Musharraf has said that exiled former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif would go straight to jail on their return to Pakistan.

Islamabad, Aug 26 : President Pervez Musharraf has said that exiled former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif would go straight to jail on their return to Pakistan.

"If they returned to Pakistan they will be jailed," sources quoted Musharraf as telling the Members of Parliament and district nazims from Rawalpindi Division.

Musharraf said the Sharif brothers were trying to "sabotage" the exile agreement reached between them and the government with the help of a "brotherly country".

Musharraf compared his impending confrontation with Sharif to a boxing match, and said that "one boxer has a soft punch while the other one a stronger punch, and victory belongs to the latter."

He said that if Sharif broke his exile agreement and returned, the issue would be taken up with the Saudi government.

Musharraf said that the government would "handle" the two brothers on their return.

Commenting on his position as Army Chief, Musharraf said that he had many options, but whatever he decided would be within the framework of the Constitution.

The Daily Times quoted Musharraf as saying that there would be a two-phase "reconciliation", before and after the general elections.
