A senior Pakistani paramilitary officer, two guards and a government official have been kidnapped near the Afghan border.According to the BBC, they were seized at gunpoint by an unidentified group on Friday as they went to meet religious leaders in Ladha, South Waziristan.

Islamabad, Aug.25 : A senior Pakistani paramilitary officer, two guards and a government official have been kidnapped near the Afghan border.According to the BBC, they were seized at gunpoint by an unidentified group on Friday as they went to meet religious leaders in Ladha, South Waziristan.

Attempts are still being made to secure the release of 15 soldiers kidnapped in the region earlier in August.

Tribal unrest has grown since troops stormed a mosque in Islamabad in July. Sixty soldiers and about 250 Islamist militants have been killed in the tribal areas in just over a month, officials say.
