Queen Elizabeths letter thief nabbed

A postman has been arrested for allegedly stealing Queen Elizabeths letters.

Washington, Aug 23 : A postman has been arrested for allegedly stealing Queen Elizabeth's letters.

Police caught Mark Lister, after he was seen burying some parcels in the grounds of the Queen's Sandringham estate.

Detectives were set up after a Royal Mail van was spotted in woods surrounding the Royal residence in Norfolk.

The surveillance operation saw a man getting out of the van and burying many mails in a big hole he dug with a spade. It is believed that he might have intended to return later to pick them up.

According to the Norfolk Police spokeswoman, the 60-year-old was arrested on charges of violating the Postal Services Act.

"A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of intending to delay mail contrary to the Postal Services Act," the Sun quoted the spokesman, as saying.

According to a Royal Mail source, the postman who is based at Dersingham sorting office thought he might hit some valuable stuff that the Queen would not notice.

"Nobody knows how long this may have been going on or what might have been nicked from Her Majesty. He may have been hoping something valuable would be sent to her and that she probably wouldn't notice," the source said.

"He was probably going to return in his own vehicle to pick up the goodies at a later date," the source added.

Lister has been released on bail pending further inquiries, and has been suspended from service.
