London, August 22 : In one of the most peculiar tech stories, a Japanese company has recalled its arm wresting machine after three players broke their arms while wrestling with the machine's mechanized challengers.
The company in question, Atlus Japan is in the process of removing all 150 of its Arm Spirit arm wrestling machines from Japanese arcades after the injuries.
The Arm Spirit arm wrestling games allow contestants to encounter opponents including a French maid, a drunken martial arts master and a Chihuahua dog.
However, the company has blamed customers for mishandling the device.
"The machine isn't that strong, much less so than a muscular man. Even women should be able to beat it," Ananova quoted Ayano Sakiyama, an Atlus spokeswoman, as saying.
Sakiyama described the recall as "a precaution," with the intention of preventing players from breaking their limbs.
"We think that maybe some players get overexcited and twist their arms in an unnatural way," she said.
The company was investigating and checking the machines for any signs of malfunction. The arcade machine is not distributed overseas.
