London, August 21 : A 27-year-old man has been jailed for 5 years for staging a robbery with his girlfriend's vibrator.
On December 27 last year, Nicki Jex robbed Ladbrokes, a bookmaker, in Narborough Road, Leicester for more than 613 pounds, by threatening the shop's manager with a Rabbit vibrator, which he hid in his bag, pretending that it was a gun.
Jex walked off with the cash, but the only customer in the bookmakers at the time, Wayne Vakani, bravely followed him out and heard him boasting about the incident to his friends.
Jex was arrested after his DNA was found on a hat he dropped, reports The Sun.
Phil Gibbs, mitigating, said Jex, who had 21 previous convictions and was on bail at the time of the offence, had broken up with his girlfriend and was in a 'fragile' state of mind when he committed the robbery.
However, while sentencing Jex, Judge Philip Head said, "You didn't have a firearm, but you intended those you confronted to believe that you did."
Judge Head awarded Vakani 500 pounds for his 'very considerable courage'.
