19 Pak MPs skip Musharrafs reception

Nineteen members of the National Assembly did not attend the reception hosted by Musharraf here in connection with his election campaign.

Multan, Aug 19 : Nineteen members of the National Assembly did not attend the reception hosted by Musharraf here in connection with his election campaign.

Sources said that four ruling party MNAs Makhdoom Alam Anwar, Makhdoom Ali Gilani, Akhtar Kanju and Farooq Azam were the prominent absentees who did not attend president's reception ceremony.

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that Musharraf expressed his displeasure, when he was provided with a list of the absentees by the agencies, and directed the Punjab Chief Minister to formulate a special policy for the southern Punjab.

Sources said that prior to the Musharraf's visit to Multan the MPAs and MNAs were asked to assemble at the Circuit House at 12 noon from where they were shifted to Services Club Multan by coasters and none was allowed to leave the room.

They said that members were thoroughly searched before the meeting.

After the president's address the members were again shifted to Circuit House under strict security, The Nation reported.
