No military government would come to power in future: Pak Minister

Pakistans Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that no military government would come to power in future as all doors have been closed for them in the present scenario.

Lahore, Aug 19 : Pakistan's Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that no military government would come to power in future as all doors have been closed for them in the present scenario.

"If we want to rule out any possibility of re-emergence of military rule in the country, two institutions-judiciary and media-have to be made stronger and fully independent to let them function fearlessly, Durrani said.

He also emphasised the need for rooting out political dictatorship, and said that unless the political parties get rid of dictatorial-minded leaders, a threat of military led government would remain.

Durrani expressed these thoughts while addressing at a seminar titled 'Pakistan Movement and the Press' held at Press Institute of Pakistan (PIP) here.

He eulogised the role of Press in promoting national unity among masses, and said that the country would make more and more progress in the days to come.
