At least 15 militants were killed in a retaliatory air raid near the town of Mir Ali in North Waziristan tribal region.

Islamabad, Aug 19 : At least 15 militants were killed in a "retaliatory air raid" near the town of Mir Ali in North Waziristan tribal region.

The militants attacked a security check-post with rockets and automatic weapons that led to a retaliatory raid killing the militants, The News quoted military spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad as saying to a private news channel.

The security forces helicopters carried out air raids at two suspected militant hideouts killing 15 miscreants including foreign nationals, he said.

"The attack was launched after credible reports that some foreign elements were using the compounds as hideouts," said Maj. Gen. Arshad.

Meanwhile, Miran Shah- Mir Ali road has been closed for traffic due to tense situation in the area.
