Next four weeks crucial for Pakistans politics: Rashid

Pakistans Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the next four weeks are going to be crucial in countrys political climate as things can go anywhere.

Lahore, Aug 19 : Pakistan's Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the next four weeks are going to be crucial in country's political climate as things can go anywhere.

If any hurdles are created in the re-election of Musharraf, the situation might get out of control and lead to worst scenario than the emergency.

Commenting on dialogue between the government and the Pakistan's People Party (PPP) top leadership, Rashid said that the shedding or otherwise of the uniform was not the issue at all.

He said Musharraf would be re-elected from sitting assemblies and if that happens, the general elections would be held in the current year.

Rashid said those who understand the politics could well visualise what could happen.

The Nation quoted him as saying that the current situation was too precarious to discuss the issues like who is going to be the next premier.

He said that in such a situation president's re-election was the first thing that should get through smoothly followed by equally smooth, transparent general elections.

Rashid hoped that once the general elections are over, the PML-Q, PPP, MQM and JUI-F would sit together.

Talking about the PPP role in the Musharraf's re-election, he said that the PML-Q had the votes to get through what was necessary with respect to PPP votes was to give the re election process an international credibility.
